Another great day.
We took the bus and then the train to Roskilde to the Viking ship Museum. They discovered five boats that had been sunk in one of the channels of the fjord. They did an incredible job over more than 25 years of bringing them up out of the mud. They built a wall around the area so that they could empty out the water and retrieve all the pieces of the ships. They then numbered and labelled everything that was left and restored them as they could (soaked in to replace the water). They are now in the museum on frames so you can see what is left and how they would be if complete.
We then went over to the outside portion of the museum where they had boats built similarily to these boats. We heard there was a chance to actually sail on one so bought tickets but then found out we missed the last sail. Too bad as Leila would have got in some paddling.
We then went to the Roskilde Cathedral an incredible building where many of the Danish Royalty are buried. Or actually in crypts in the Cathedral.
We headed into Copenhaven for supper hoping to sit outside in a sidewalk cafe but it was a little cool. We had a good supper anyway. I had Danish roast pork with red cabbage and potatoes.
