We packed everything up ready to leave and then rode our borrowed bikes into Vive.
I obviously need some lesson on this selfie thing. Giovanna does a much better job than I am.
Vive seems to be an even smaller village than Mygdal. The church is right in the village.
It was open so we looked inside. It is quite old the list of ministers seems only to go back to the 16 th century.
It seemed quite similar to the other Danish churches we have been in other than the boat hanging in the centre.
Although there were some Jensens in the graveyard we have no idea at the moment if they are related. Probably not because of the Danish tradition of your surname being your fathers name plus sen or datter added.l
We then rode back through the village and took a track down to the fjord where the local boat club was.
It is hard to tell but that is a seal out in the fjord by an old anchor.
They also have one on shore.
We passed several herds of cows on the way back to the B and B.
We walked into Hadsund with a stop for lunch on the way to the museum.
It was a beautiful day so we found some shade on their patio.
At the museum they have two sections the first was historical - there used to be a lot of glass produced in the area. They also had displays depicting various eras.
The second section of the museum is dedicated to mills. Water and windmills. It was interesting but most was only in Danish so tough for me to follow.
The other thing at the museum was local archives and once again we lucked out with finding information. This time about Jens sister Inger Marie. We
found birth and confirmation records. The curator gave us some pointers on searching too as well as some maps showing how the farm land was divided up in that area. Each farm was given land of similar value including one piece of heathland, one going to the fjord etc.
After the museum we had some travelling to do to get to Fredrickshaven. Bus to Aalborg, then train to Hjorring pick up our suitcases then train to Fredrickshaven.
We passed a great variety of scenery.
This was a first for me it was called an unstaffed hotel. We booked and paid online. They sent a code and room number by email which we used to get in.
